Institute for Leadership & Coaching

Developing leaders who serve with wisdom and integrity.

Practical training and coaching for Ukrainians leading in nonprofits and communities.
The Institute for Leadership & Coaching (ILC) equips local pastors, nonprofit directors, and civic champions to build resilient organizations, foster deep local ownership, and lead with integrity for the long-term flourishing of Ukraine.

Through practical training in organizational leadership, team development and coaching, and accounting/financial record-keeping, participants gain the skills and confidence to strengthen the organizations and communities they serve.

Biblical values. Practical skills. Stronger leaders and communities.

Why Leadership Matters

Ukraine needs effective leaders at every level of society.

Russia’s war on Ukraine has intensified the responsibilities carried by pastors, nonprofit directors, and community organizers.

Many are leading teams through trauma, displacement, limited resources, and constant change. The ILC helps them develop practical skills, examine their leadership through a biblical lens, and learn alongside others carrying similar responsibilities.

The goal is leadership that helps people and organizations serve with greater competence, integrity, compassion, and resilience.

Leadership in a Time of War

Equipping people to carry new and difficult responsibilities.

Russia’s war on Ukraine has created profound leadership challenges throughout Ukrainian society. Leaders are caring for displaced families, guiding teams through trauma, supporting veterans, rebuilding organizations, and responding to needs that can change without warning.

ILC continues adapting its programs to these realities. Current training includes psychological support for soldiers, veterans and their families, and families who have lost loved ones. Participants include people seeking healing as well as those preparing to help others carry the burdens of war.

This training helps leaders combine practical competence with empathy, spiritual maturity, and a commitment to human dignity.

From Vision to Action

Led by people developing leaders from within Ukraine.

ILC is part of the ministry led by Yaroslav “Slavik” Pyzh, President of UBTS, ILC, and WeCare Centers. Slavik’s vision helps connect theological education, leadership development, and community-based ministry for the transformation of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Oryshchyn serves as Director of the Institute, along with his team, who develop the Institute’s programs and training experiences.

Connected Ministry

Leadership development strengthens every part of the mission.

ILC helps connect the work of UBTS and WeCare Centers.

UBTS prepares pastors, church planters, counselors, and ministry leaders through theological education and formation.

ILC adds practical skills training in coaching, communications, financial accountability, team building, and organizational development.

WeCare Centers provide a community setting where leaders can apply those abilities to provide care, outreach, collaboration, and local ministry.

Together, the education and ministries develop people who can lead faithfully and help others flourish.
